Renee Gadoua
Syracuse, NY, USA
After a career at a daily newspaper in Upstate New York (Syracuse, N.Y.) USA, I freelance for a variety of publications. My specialties include religion and spirituality, with extensive knowledge and contacts in the Catholic Church; Native American issues (sovereignty, land claims, cultural appropriation); social issues (abortion; racial and gender equality; religious liberty); refugee/immigrant resettlement; and charities (especially those that deal with emergency aid).
I have traveled to the Vatican twice on assignment, covered the Dalai Lama four times, and follow developments in denominations as well as the intersection of faith and public policy. I have strong contacts in these areas and a working knowledge of the vocabulary and priorities of numerous faith traditions, including atheism/secularism/humanism and the increasing group of Americans who claim no religious affiliation.
I am based in Upstate New York, at the center of the state. I live about three hours from the Canadian border and five hours from New York City. I am willing to travel on short notice for assignments.
