Rhea Karam
Beirut, Lebanon
Rhea was born in Beirut and grew up between the United States and France. She is currently based between Beirut and New York where she graduated from the International Center of Photography in 2007 and was the recipient of a director’s scholarship.
Her work focuses on documenting domestic and urban environments with a concentration on the Middle East. In 2009 she published a book called Breathing Walls with the purpose to archive the political transition in Lebanon through the walls of its streets.
She has exhibited internationally in both solo and group shows and has won several awards among which the Silver Eye Fellowship commendation n award, best of show at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center and was named top 50 photographers to follow in Blackbook as well as one of 10 emerging Middle Eastern artists to watch by CNN.
