Photographer born in Puerto Montt, Chile.
He studied photography, advertising and television in Santiago de Chile, beginning his professional career in 1991 as a photographer for the newspaper La Nacion, 1992 - 1994 La Epoca, 1995 - 1997 La Tercera and for the international news agency The Associated Press (AP) 1998 - 2012. From 2012 he is an independent photographer and founder of activaimagen.cl . Some of his work has been published by The New York Times (USA), The Washington Post (USA), The Times (UK), The Guardian (UK), Corriere della Sera (Italy), La Republica (Italy), Aftonbladet (Sweden), Bild (Germany), El Pais (Spain), El Mundo (Spain), Der Spiegel (Germany), Polka (France), Le Figaro (France), Clarin (Argentina), La Nacion (Argentina), La Jornada (Mexico) .
His career has taken him to cover some of the most important events of the last decade in Latin America and the world, such as the Olympic Games, World Cups, Panamerican Games, Copa America, Earthquakes and disasters, Presidential Summits, Social conflicts, Presidential Elections, among others.
In 2011 his photo essay "Plan B" was selected as part of PHOTOQUAI 2011 Biennal exhibition organized by Musse du Quai Branly in Paris, France among others local and international exhibitions .
Winner of more than 26 awards in photojournalism and art, in 2004 and 2010 he won the photographer of the year award at the National Exhibition of Photojournalism and in 2011 won a prize of excellency in the first edition of POY Latino America and in 2013 he won the Chile's FONDART a national financing for develop a project in Maillen Island, Chile.
He is currently based in Washington D.C
