Stephanie Strasburg is a photojournalist and portrait photographer in Pittsburgh covering a wide range of assignments. She is drawn to explore the evolving landscape, economy, and sociopolitical conditions of the Rust Belt and is interested in developing new ways for stories to be found and shared in her community. She likes to work on projects that develop a sense of place for those unfamiliar with the region. Recently, Stephanie is working on a long term project that takes a deep dive into lives effected by the opioid epidemic in Pittsburgh’s overdose capital of Carrick. In 2016, her work focused around the political landscape of Appalachia. Her freelance clients include the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Cosmopolitan, ESPN, Reuters, WBEZ Chicago, STAT News, Vox, and USA Today. Stephanie was selected to be a part of Eddie Adams Workshop XXVI, is a grantee for the Pulitzer Center on Conflict Reporting, and he work has received accolades from the National Press Photographers Association, Society of Professional Journalists, Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar, Inland Press Association, American Society of News Editors, National Association of Black Journalists, Clarion Awards, National Headliner Awards, Editor and Publisher Eppy Awards, and the American Society of News Editors, among others.
