There's probably nothing I wouldn't try given enough time to psych myself up for it. I'd say I'm an explorer if it didn't automatically make everyone think I am a National Geographic shooter. I'm not....yet. I like pretty much every other photographer in the world, would love to shoot for the "yellow box." After all, those were the first books I ever read.
So no, I wouldn't say I'm an explorer but I AM a seeker. I crave new experiences because I believe that each new language we hear, new friend we make, new dish we eat, or new mountain we look down from, offers us just a tiny bit more understanding from which we can see the world around us. And I believe that right now, we all need to see the world around us with a more complex vision. For the world, maybe now more than ever, is a complicated place.
And so with each new shoot that I do, I bring a seekers eye, a longing to connect, a desire to try a new thing and to see not just the visible but the incorporeal as well. Connections between people. Moments. The enthralled musician or athlete in a perfect state of flow. The confidence and positive energy of the fashionista, or the concern of the kind hearted. People and places around us can inform and inspire us with their wonder to see the world more richly. I'd like to share that.
