Sarah Rice is a documentary photographer interested in exploring the elements that bind human beings to one another. Some of her work focuses on communities of individuals content to live apart from mainstream society; the choices they make to stay there and the relationships that result from it. Born in Michigan in 1982, Sarah is based in mid-coast Maine where she freelances. Her work has been published in Newsweek, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, The New Yorker, CNN.com and NBC.com, among others. She graduated with a photojournalism degree from Central Michigan University in 2004, and was previously a newspaper staff photographer before transitioning to freelance, and documentary work.
