Susana Cabañero

Susana started out as a photographer with her long-term documentary project on the people who disappeared during the Spanish Civil War from a very personal approach. Apart from working on long-term projects she does editorial and travel assignments tackling social issues like the relationship between people and their environment, the collective memory and the merging of traditions and modernity.
She has been selected to participate in Descubrimientos PhotoEspaña 2017 and she received an Honorable Mention at the IPA Photography Awards, Climate Change 2016. In 2015 she was finalist of the LensCulture Street Awards with her work on Ethiopia and was recipient of the Albarracin Seminar Award with "el Hombrecino". In 2013 she was a finalist at the International Photographic Contest Alliance Française-Fundación Pilar Citoler. Her images have been exhibited in places like PhotoEspaña, ARCOmadrid International Contemporary Art Fair, the Alliance Française, Voies Off Arles and published in media like El País Semanal and international online media.
Currently based in Madrid, Susana has also lived in the UK, Germany and France. She has a multidisciplinary background in Science, Translation and Fine Arts.
