Silvie De Burie
Ghent, Belgium
Ever since I was a little girl, there has been that primitive sense of Waterlust. Only at the age of 25 though, I got into a passionate love affair with the ocean.
From the very first time I went snorkeling in Bunaken, I was lost.
After many years of diving, I decided to start shooting underwater fairly recently. My photography skills were a bit rusty, while I hadn't been handling a decent camera since my years as an Audiovisual Arts student. Also, to be honest, just looking at the equipment already scared me, so it took me some time to get used to it all.
Meanwhile, while looking for and photographing these intriguing patterns I'm the happiest person on earth.
To me, there's simply no better place than down there...
When not travelling and diving, I wander the wastelands, riverbanks and traintrack borders of Gent, my hometown.
I stop where nobody else does, I look, I frame and I shoot the beauty of nature.
And every time I dare to think there's nothing new to discover, there actually is...
