Shuchi Kapoor

Shuchi is a documentary photojournalist from India whose work mainly focuses on humanitarian and social issues spanning across regions, cultures and mindsets in her country. After a decade of writing for advertising, photography combined with effective writing was a medium of participation in the unreported or underreported world. Her folio presents a diverse coverage of issues such as women's rights, political upheavals, the aftermath of communal warfare, refugee life, gender and sexuality, mental health, juvenile and child labour, social and environmental, cultural practices and more.
She is also the recipient of the Dart Asia-Pac Fellowship, 2015 (an affiliate of Columbia University) on ‘Trauma & Journalism’ and has been published with various international and national publications both in print and online - The Washington Post, Newsweek, Al Jazeera, Marie Claire, The New Internationalist, The Sunday Guardian, Mint, The Economic Times etc. to name a few. She has exhibited with Blindboys (BlowUp Bombay - Focus Photography Festival 2015), Art Chennai, PondyArt and Gallery M, Kolkata.
Roots in both, Delhi and Ahmedabad, she is currently based in Chennai, India and is mostly on the move for assignments and personal work.
