Dom Smaz is a 32 years old Swiss-Brazilian photograph based in Lausanne (Switzerland) and with some “work in progress” in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). His personal work, developed through different photo series about “standby” work situations, has been selected for prizes including: 3rd place at the Swiss Press Photo (2013, in the category «Daily life and environment»); the New York Photo Awards (2011, where Smaz obtained an honorable mention); the VFG young talent prize (2011, Zurich, Switzerland); and the KL Photo Awards (2010, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). For the press, he’s been working with: Die Zeit, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, NZZ am Sonntag, Sonntags Zeitung, Sept.info, la Cité, Bilan, L’Hebdo, L’illustré, Le Temps, GEO Histoire, Le Matin Dimanche, and many others. Dom has graduated at the Photography School of Vevey (CEPV, Switzerland) and was represented by the Rezo.ch Photo Agency (Geneva, Switzerland) from 2011 to 2014, for now he’s freelance.
