Sofia Jaramillo is a freelance visual journalist based in Yakima, WA. She has worked for various news organizations contributing with stills and video. She previously interned with the Associated Press in Mexico City in 2015. She has interned for the Seattlepi.com, The Herald in Everett, WA where she covered the Oso Mudslide. She is an Idaho native and she loves the Northwest. Jaramillo tells stories through stills and video.

In 2013 Jaramillo received an award of excellence in the 68th CPOY, College Photographer of the Year competition, interpretive eye category. She was awarded 2nd place in the SPJ Northwest Excellence in Journalism Contest Gallery/Slideshow category from the Society of Professional Journalist. In 2012, she was awarded 2nd place in the Seattle University Film Festival for her short video story, “Cy Wilson, 86 year-old hockey player.” In 2010, Jaramillo was awarded first place in the “Why do you love football?” Canon NFL photo contest.
