Montreal, QC, Canada
Sophie Bertrand was born in the North Shore region of Quebec. Of french descent, she spent her youth in the south of France and rapidly seized the opportunity to travel between the North American and european continents.
In 1998 she began studying photographic techniques and worked as an assistant for many years. This experience allowed her to travel often in North Maghreb. She explores the image at the option of multiple techniques. Concerned about the human trace and time, she poses a discreet and instinctive eye around the world. Between narrative and documentary vision , her work focuses on different themes such as architecture, abandoned landscape and preserving traditions. She also conducts introspective projects in the long term, about the theme of absence.
Member of the Stock Photo collective in Montreal, she is also correspondent for the daily newspaper L’Oeil de la Photographie.
