Summer Ameen is a photographer and filmmaker who was born and raised in the Kingdom of Bahrain. She left her home country at the age of 18 and lived between Canada, the UK, and the UAE for the following eight years. During this time she studied sociology and anthropology at the University of Toronto, obtained a First Class Honors B.A. in Filmmaking from Middlesex University (UK), taught filmmaking classes at SAE Institute in Dubai, took on a variety of film and video production jobs on a freelance basis, and attended photography workshops worldwide. She moved back to Bahrain at the age of 26 where she taught video production and photography courses at a local university and began to offer her photography services commercially. Eventually the demand for her services allowed her to become a full time photographer. Her work has garnered four awards at the Professional Photographers of America’s competitions, been published in Professional Photographer Magazine (USA) and exhibited in the USA and Bahrain. After 7 years of specializing in photography, her love of filmmaking has been calling her back. She now works and creates in both fields.
