Fascinated with storytelling, photojournalism is a comfortable niche for my cameras and me. Shooting professionally since 2005, my passion is telling stories which need to be heard; thus, one of my greatest pleasures is shooting for non-profits like Hanna Project.
I shoot whatever moves, and do a kicker of a job on events and weddings. Clients include a number of big names like PepsiCo, GPS World Magazine, Dollar General and Verizon; however, most of my clients are ordinary folk like me. Examples of my visual story-telling--a little artsy at times--can be browsed by visiting my portfolio galleries at http://www.gentusophotography.com.
With a style that's a mix of Documentary and Fine Art, I work to blend and balance a myriad of possibilities and angles and shadow/light combinations in order to craft the most compelling visual story possible from every situation.
Happily married to my Italian-American hubby, mom to three adult sons, a registered nurse by profession, past-head of a maternity clinic at a bush hospital in the middle of West Africa, and a practicing potter/sculptor...there’s not much I haven’t seen. It is this kind of life experience which breeds confidence and calm--exactly what I bring to each situation where I am shooting (along with a bag full of lenses, camera bodies and odd bits of photographer paraphernalia...and probably a square of dark chocolate tucked away somewhere handy).
