Tuk Time
Teo Becher
After a sunny but freezing day of wandering around Tuktoyaktuk, I join Roxane near the Tuk Inn. She comes out of the building after having explored all the rooms and is shivering of enthusiasm.
I have to see this. She guides me through the abandoned hotel : snow everywhere on the ground, walls and windows. Everything is in place, as if the customers have just went out to have a walk on the ice – here, time is suspended. We lose ourselves, then find our way back to this extraordinary room. The half-opened window makes the curtain twirl, filling the room with an incredible red light. The snow is immaculate and a few hangers are waiting. It's just a few days after an impressive snowstorm: - 49 °F and wind gusts up to 93 m/h which not only filled the hotel with snow but also threw someone's trampoline more than 2 miles away from the city.
