Thomas Vanden Driessche

Thomas Vanden Driessche was born in Louvain in 1979. He is a graduated of journalism and humanitarian management. Having worked for years for the International Committee of the Red Cross, he is currently a freelance photographer distributed by the agency INSTITUTE For Artist Management. He works for several international newspapers. Enshrined in documentary tradition, his photography is often a frontal representation and distorts reality with particular attention to portrait. His most recent projects tackle contemporary India and its rampant industrialisation. Thomas is also undertaking a lengthy study on the trivialization of violence in Europe.
His work has received among others a double nomination to the Pictet Prize 2013 and was among the finalist of the Bourse du talent and the Manuel Rivera Ortiz Grant for documentary photography. His work has been displayed recently in international festivals around Europe. Thomas Vanden Driessche was a member of the Jury of the Humanitarian Visa d’or and the Boutographies. Supported by the association Fetart in charge of the promotion of young emerging European photography, he currently lives and works in Brussels.
