Thomas White learnt traditional wet black and white film photography whilst studying Fine Art and Photography at Colchester Sixth Form College in the UK.
After completing his studies Thomas spent a year living in Uganda, working for different charities and organisations.
Thomas then returned to the UK to study photography at the University of Portsmouth. He continued with his love of traditional photography techniques by converting the shed in the garden into a darkroom. During the course Thomas had his work shown in a number of different exhibitions, most noticeable being a show titled Wide Eyes in Brick Lane, London. The course resulted in Thomas gaining a BA (hons) Photography degree.
After graduating Thomas once again returned to Uganda where he started working as a freelance documentary photographer. He has worked for numerous organisations throughout Africa and further afield. In 2013 Thomas was shortlisted for the Environmental Photographer of the Year award for his work with the African Climate Change Resilience Alliance, and had his work exhibited at the Royal Geographic Society in London.
Thomas now lives in The United States.
