Ivan Chernichkin

Ivan Chernichkin was born in Kiev in 1982. He has graduated the photography faculty of the Kiev Institute of Culture and Arts where he developed an interest in documentary black-and-white photography. After the study Ivan has started to work in “X-Life” sport and travel magazine. In 2004 he leaves the magazine and made a trip through the Azerbaijan, Iran and Afghanistan, and later joined the daily newspaper Kommersant as a staff photographer. Since 2005-2006 he has worked for REUTERS and in 2006 has been selected to participate the Joop Swart World Press Photo masterclass. After the master class Ivan joined the Focus weekly news magazine and till 2010 has worked on it. In 2011 he has moved from Kiev to Lviv where spent one year developing films and printing his “The Call” project about hasidic pilgrims in Ukraine. Now Ivan is freelance photographer running his own projects and works in collaboration with “4in1” art group.
