Anastasia Bebykh, 20, of Winnipeg, holds a sign thanking the Ukrainian army for protecting her family, at a rally in support of Ukraine at the Legislature building, in Winnipeg Manitoba on February 26, 2022.
Worried about her relatives who still live in the city of Kropyvnytskyi, she said they were safe for now, however, if the sirens go off, they have a place to go to in the basement of their home.
Some 5,000 people attended the event in support and solidarity for Ukrainians besieged by Russian forces. Canada has the largest Ukrainian diaspora outside of that country.
